The MS Europa 2 docked in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday. BSB, as the capital city of the Sultanate of Brunei is commonly known, may have barely 140,000 inhabitants. For that, it boasts what is said to be the largest palace in the world, fitted out with over 1,800 rooms and allegedly occupying more than 200,000 m2 of developed space. (No, we left our tape measure at home…) Definitely worth a visit is the Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, the country’s traditional landmark and one of the most beautiful mosques in the Asia Pacific region.
Gestern hatte die MS Europa 2 Halt in Bandar Seri Begawan gemacht. BSB, wie die meisten die Hauptstadt des Sultanats Brunei nennen, hat gerade einmal 140.000 Einwohner dafür aber angeblich den grössten Palast der Welt mit mehr als 1.800 Räumen und einer überbauten Fläche von über 200.000 Quadratmetern – nun, wir haben nicht nachgezählt. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert ist die Omar Ali Saifuddin Moschee, als eine der schönsten und eindrucksvollsten im asiatisch-pazifischen Raum, sie gilt längst als Wahrzeichen Brunei Darussalams, der Heiligen Stadt.
